"John Obama"
I was watching a video over on Maria's blog. Zoey was watching too, and after it was over this is the conversation that took place:
Zoey: I'm a democrap mommy
Me: Your a what?
Zoey: a Democrap
Me: oh a Democrat, you are?
Zoey: uh-huh
Me: Okay, who are you voting for? Barack Obama or John McCain?
Zoey: uhhh...John Obama
LOL! This kid cracks me up!

New Addition
We got a puppy last night!
A lady my cousin knew found four puppies locked in a kennel, left to die. The owners had moved away and just left them there. I don't know how someone could have the heart to do that, but they did. So my cousin called to see if we might want one. Our last dog died a little over a year ago,(due to heart worms) and as soon as my husband heard the word puppy he was all for it. I was a little more skeptical b/c I knew I'd have to be the one to take care of it all day while he was at work. But after we saw her we fell in love. We aren't sure how old she is; we're guessing maybe 3 months. Or what kind of dog she is, the lady said she thought that it resembled a Boston terrier.

Now we just need to figure out what to name her! Got any ideas?

Ian Kristopher Sterling 8/5/05
I am unable to go to sleep tonight, just thinking about my little boy, and how things would be if he were here with us. He would be three years old today, it's hard to believe it has went faster than I ever would have imagined. When we lost our little boy our lives came to a complete stop, I didn't know what to do, how to act, how to feel, or even what I would tell people. How would I tell them our son was gone? I can't even begin to explain all the emotions I was dealing with. But somehow my life continued even though at the time I never thought it would. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him. And I ask Jesus to give him a hug and kiss from mommy every night when I say my prayers. It has become easier to deal with over time, but this day always seems to be the hardest. We went to the cemetery tonight and left flowers and a happy birthday balloon for our little guy, and we'll visit again tomorrow.

Sweet child whom we never really got to know, Its hard for us to let you go.
We waited and we wanted you. We had so many dreams for you.
We think of smiles we'll never see. We think of events that will never be.
There will be no first steps and no first teeth. There is only a void and our own grief.
We planned to take you to places far and near.
We yearned to keep you safe and free from fear.
We hoped to show you much of your new world. We wanted to teach you as your life unfurled.
Its hard to understand why you, our baby, died.
We feel so numb right now, many tears we've cried. We have so many questions and no answers seem to come. We tried so hard to save you; nothing could be done.
God, we stand before you broken-hearted and ask you to heal these lives that must be parted from this little one we can no longer hold, who will always be a part of us, even when we're old.
God, take this child in your loving arms. No more can he suffer any harm.
Bless him always and bless us too. Be with us and help us to make it through.
~~Ian Kristopher Sterling~~ You will always hold a very special place in Mommy & Daddy's Hearts. We will never forget our sweet baby boy! 8/5/2005

New Woman
I got about 7 inches cut off my hair yesterday, and I feel like a new woman. I got it highlighted too, and it felt really good to pamper myself for a change. I love it!

Chuck E Cheese
We met at Chuck E Cheese today for a playdate. It was Zoey's first time going and I didn't know if there would be anything there she could actually do, but I think she played just about every game at least once, and we both had a fun day! Thanks guys!

Potty Training
Well we've been working on sitting on the potty for a couple months now, but today we only used diapers at nap and bed time. We used cloth training panties all day and only had 3 accidents. I know there will probably be many more, but it's start! It really wore me out though saying "Do you have to go potty?", "Are you sure?" and making a trip to the bathroom every 15 minutes, but Zoey's a smart little girl and I know she'll have it down pat soon enough!
I'd love to hear advice/tips from any of you who have been though it!

Patting Myself on the Back
My husband has been bugging me about going and having our taxes done. Well my mom always does her own and convinced me I could do mine and save about $200, so I sat down yesterday and read through the instructions and did both our state and federal taxes. I will admit it did take a couple hours since I read, re-read, checked and re-checked everything a hundred times, but I'm proud of myself. I'm pretty happy about the refund too!

Why?
Why do we spend loads of money on toys we think Zoey will like? I don't know! Her favorite thing this week is a $4 plastic tub I got from Wal-Mart to keep her blocks in. She dumps out all the blocks and plays with the tub. She uses it as a seat, stool, basket, hat, shoe, and the list goes on and on. Who would have known it had so many uses?

I Got This Email Earlier...
AFTER A FEW OF THE USUAL SUNDAY EVENING HYMNS, THE CHURCH'S PASTOR
SLOWLY STOOD UP, WALKED OVER TO THE PULPIT AND, BEFORE HE GAVE HIS
SERMON FOR THE EVENING, HE BRIEFLY INTRODUCED A GUEST MINISTER WHO WAS
IN THE SERVICE THAT EVENING.
IN THE INTRODUCTION, THE PASTOR TOLD THE
CONGREGATION THAT THE GUEST MINISTER WAS
ONE OF HIS DEAREST CHILDHOOD FRIENDS AND
THAT HE WANTED HIM TO HAVE A FEW MOMENTS
TO GREET THE CHURCH AND SHARE WHATEVER HE FELT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE FOR
THE SERVICE.
WITH THAT, AN ELDERLY MAN STEPPED UP TO THE
PULPIT AND BEGAN TO SPEAK.
'A FATHER, HIS SON, AND A FRIEND OF HIS SON WERE SAILING OFF THE
PACIFIC
COAST,' HE BEGAN.
WHEN A FAST APPROACHING STORM BLOCKED ANY ATTEMPT TO GET BACK TO THE
SHORE.
THE WAVES WERE SO HIGH, THAT EVEN THOUGH THE FATHER WAS AN EXPERIENCED
SAILOR, HE COULD NOT KEEP THE BOAT UPRIGHT AND THE THREE WERE SWEPT
INTO
THE OCEAN AS THE BOAT CAPSIZED.'
THE OLD MAN HESITATED FOR A MOMENT, MAKING EYE CONTACT WITH TWO
TEENAGERS WHO WERE, FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE SERVICE BEGAN, LOOKING
SOMEWHAT INTERESTED IN HIS STORY.
THE AGED MINISTER CONTINUED WITH HIS STORY,
GRABBING A RESCUE LINE, THE FATHER HAD TO MAKE THE MOST EXCRUCIATING
DECISION OF HIS LIFE: TO WHICH BOY WOULD HE THROW THE OTHER END OF THE
LIFE LINE.
HE ONLY HAD SECONDS TO MAKE THE DECISION.
THE FATHER KNEW THAT HIS SON WAS A CHRISTIAN AND HE, ALSO, KNEW THAT
HIS
SON'S FRIEND WAS NOT.
THE AGONY OF HIS DECISION COULD NOT BE MATCHED BY THE TORRENT OF WAVES.
AS THE FATHER YELLED OUT, "I LOVE YOU, SON!" HE THREW OUT THE LIFE
LINE
TO HIS SON'S FRIEND.
BY THE TIME THE FATHER HAD PULLED THE FRIEND BACK TO THE CAPSIZED BOAT,
HIS SON HAD DISAPPEARED BENEATH THE RAGING SWELLS INTO THE BLACK OF
NIGHT.
HIS BODY WAS NEVER RECOVERED.'
BY THIS TIME, THE TWO TEENAGERS WERE SITTING UP STRAIGHT IN THE PEW,
ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR THE NEXT WORDS TO COME OUT OF THE OLD MINISTER'S
MOUTH.
THE FATHER,' HE CONTINUED, 'KNEW HIS SON WOULD STEP INTO ETERNITY WITH
JESUS AND HE COULD NOT BEAR THE THOUGHT OF HIS SON'S FRIEND STEPPING
INTO AN ETERNITY WITHOUT JESUS...
THEREFORE, HE SACRIFICED HIS SON TO SAVE THE SON'S FRIEND.
HOW GREAT IS THE LOVE OF GOD THAT HE SHOULD DO THE SAME FOR US. OUR
HEAVENLY FATHER SACRIFICED HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WE COULD BE
SAVED.
I URGE YOU TO ACCEPT HIS OFFER TO RESCUE YOU AND TAKE A HOLD OF THE
LIFE LINE HE IS THROWING OUT TO YOU IN THIS SERVICE.'
WITH THAT, THE OLD MAN TURNED AND SAT BACK DOWN IN HIS CHAIR AS SILENCE
FILLED THE ROOM. THE PASTOR AGAIN WALKED SLOWLY TO THE PULPIT AND
DELIVERED A BRIEF SERMON WITH AN INVITATION AT THE END. HOWEVER, NO ONE
RESPONDED TO THE APPEAL.
WITHIN MINUTES AFTER THE SERVICE ENDED, THE TWO TEENAGERS WERE AT THE
OLD MAN'S SIDE. THAT WAS A NICE STORY,' POLITELY STATED ONE OF
THEM,'BUT
I DON'T THINK IT WAS VERY REALISTIC FOR A FATHER TO GIVE UP HIS ONLY
SON'S LIFE IN HOPES THAT THE OTHER BOY WOULD BECOME A CHRISTIAN. WELL,
YOU'VE GOT A POINT THERE,' THE OLD MAN REPLIED, GLANCING DOWN AT HIS
WORN BIBLE. A BIG SMILE BROADENED HIS NARROW FACE. HE ONCE AGAIN LOOKED
UP AT THE BOYS AND SAID, 'IT SURE ISN'T VERY REALISTIC, IS IT? BUT,
I'M
STANDING HERE TODAY TO TELL YOU THAT STORY GIVES ME A GLIMPSE OF WHAT
IT
MUST HAVE BEEN LIKE FOR GOD TO GIVE UP HIS SON FOR ME. YOU SEE...
I WAS THAT FATHER AND YOUR PASTOR IS MY SON'S FRIEND.'
I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die
to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there
isn't and die to find out there is.

Go Put Yourself in Timeout
Zoey has started this new little thing, that whenever we tell her she's doing something she's not supposed to, or she can't do something she wants to, she runs over to the corner in our living room, and stands there and pouts until she's done being mad at us. Sometimes she even closes her eyes so she doesn't have to look at us. LOL! (Let me just add, that we have never put her in time out, or made her stand in the corner, so I don't know where she learned it but I like it so much better than the flinging herself on the floor kicking and screaming.)

I Am Legend
We saw this movie tonight, and I thought it was really good. My stomach stayed in knots the whole time. Although it kinda freaks me out when they make movies on things that could really happen, like lethal mutating viruses. Scary stuff.

Bare
Well all my Christmas stuff is down and packed away for next year. It's relief to have it all done but at the same time my house looks really bare, and plain. We rearranged the furniture but it still didn't help. It'll take at least a week for me to get used to it now!

So...
I have a lot of updating to do!
I'll start with Christmas, it was GREAT Zoey had a wonderful day! She really got into ripping off all the paper. She got so much stuff I don't know where to put it all! She ended up with a BIG present from mom mom and pop pop Arndt, a F-150 power wheels, which she likes to sit and play in, but she's not too sure about the moving part yet, she doesn't know whether to laugh or cry. LOL! How could one kid get so much stuff?
Next we'll move to New Year's Eve. We went to the in laws for dinner and came home to watch the ball drop. We let Zoey stay up too, so we could be together as a family when the new year came in. We decided to go pacifier free in 2008 and I thought it was going very well until bedtime, needless to say she's in her bed fast asleep, toot in mouth. Just another resolution, I didn't stick too! Happy New Year!
